Robot Teams from Eng. KPS. Wins the Thailand Championship
in a Home Builder Robot Competition
3 home builder robot teams from Innovative Robotica Club (InRoC), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Kamphaeng Saen (Eng. KPS.), Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus (KU.KPS.) has won the first place Championship in the Home Builder Robot Competition. In addition, they have also got the 1st and 3rd runner-up.
These teams which were supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hathaithep Vongsuwan and Lecturer Worapote Satadejakul consisted of InRoC Q-BO Team, InRoC Z-BO Team and InRoC K-BO Team. They have participated in the Home Builder Robot Competition which was collaboratively organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Home Building Business Association (HBBA), Siam Cement Group(SCG), and Quality Construction Products Co.Ltd.(Public) or (Q-CON) and the final round was held on March 2, 2015 at Q-CON in Bangpa-in Industrial Settlement, Phra Nakhon Sri Ayudhya.
Following a number of previous competitive rounds, the final round including 9 contestant teams was held. In the competition, there were 2 types of the robot: the auto and the manual. As for those of KU.KPS., InRoC Q-BO and InRoC Z-BO were the autos whereas InRoC K-BO was the manual.
The objective of the competition was that each robot was to place blocks in the form of a home wall and to cover the wall with a layer of cement. Scoring judgment was done according to the following criteria: robot innovation, creativity, operational benefits, skilfulness of the block placement, placement time, difficulty and simplicity, presentation, practical efficiency and suitability and further commercial development. Nevertheless, the result revealed that the InRoC Z-BO Team scored the most in all criteria. It could complete the assigned task within 13.05 minutes and was followed by the InRoC Q-BO Team, and the InRoC K-BO Team.
On March 12, 2015 in the "Home Builder Focus 2015", the awarding ceremony was organized by HBBA and all 3 home builder robot teams from Eng. KPS. received their respective awards presented by Mom Luang Panadda Diskul, the Minister for the Prime Minister Office:
The InRoC Z-BO Team which got the top prize received the cup of top prize; Bht. 80,000; and the certificate.
The InRoC Q-BO Team which got the 1st runner-up received the cup of the 1st runner-up; Bht. 40,000; and the certificate.
The InRoC K-BO Team which got the 3rd runner-up received the cup of the 3rd runner-up; Bht. 10,000; and the certificate.
The InRoC Z-BO Team consisted of Mr. Sirirak Klinbuppha, Miss Nichkan Pundee, Mr. Boonyarit Boonthiam, Mr. Decha Thongkham, Mr.Verayuth Olarnnaranond, Mr. Sompope Busarakumkul and Lecturer Worapote Satadejakul (supervisor).
